Reiki is a non-invasive energy therapy with Japanese origins. Its practice balances the body’s biofield and boosts the body’s capability to heal itself. During a Reiki session, energy flows through a practitioner’s hands into deficient or constrained areas in the client's biofield, filling the client with more positive energy while strengthening energy pathways so the client can more easily heal in a naturally supported way. Reiki can soothe, nurture, and restore individuals, as well as help to reduce stress and tension.
Reiki regulates the flow of ki/qi/chi in the body to create or restore balance, harmony, and health. A Reiki session may last from 45 minutes to an hour or more, usually on a massage table while the client is fully clothed. The Reiki practitioner lays their hands gently on the client, thus allowing the energy to flow into the client’s body. The first thing most clients experience is a deep relaxation. Some even fall asleep during the session. If a client presents a particular problem, the practitioner may choose to focus on those particular parts of the body. The practitioners’ hands may, but not always, get warm during a session, a sign of energy flowing through them to the client.
Essential oils can be used to focus Reiki energy towards a particular problem or chakra during the session. Typically, a small amount is applied directly to the problem area before the session, or the client may also request for oils to be diffused during the session.
Many Reiki practitioners use the subtle energy of crystals to aid their work. Crystals may be placed around the room, under the massage table, or directly on the participant before and during the session.
Reiki can be used along side or in combination with any other therapy, including modern medicine. Reiki, while having healing effects of its own, will only increase the healing benefits of other methods you may choose to employ.
Distance Sessions
Reiki distance sessions provide the same benefits as working in the same physical space.
Both the client and practitioner act as if the body is on the treatment table even while the client is sitting or laying down remotely.
The session is conducted through a phone call, Skype, Hangouts, or FaceTime session. This allows the biofield and body to express themselves as if they were in the same location.
